NEW DELHI: The much-anticipated trailer of JP Dutta's war trilogy 'Paltan' is out. Starring Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Siddhanth Kapoor, Harshvardhan Rane and Jackie Shroff, Paltan marks Dutta’s to filmmaking after a gap of 12 years.
Among the actresses, the film will feature Esha Gupta, Sonal Chauhan, Monica Gill, among others. Abhishek Bachchan and Suniel Shetty were also on board for the film but they walked out.
The film portrays an untold story of the Indian forces facing an intense battle to thwart a Chinese infiltration at Nathu La, Sikkim. The three-minute long trailer shows snippets of battleground sequences along with the exchange of dialogues between the characters about their love for the motherland.
It starts with a footage of 1962 Indo-Chinese war where India lost the battle. Subsequently, it shifts to 1967 when India retaliated to win over Nathu La. Like the previous films of the director, the trailer assures that the movie, based on true events, will shed light on the struggles of the families of the army personnel involved in the war. It ends with the powerful "A martyr dies not when he is shot, but when he is forgotten.” However, unnecessarily loud background score and the synchronised sound of gunfire and occasional bombardments affects the appeal of the trailer at times.
JP Dutta last film was Umrao Jaan, a box office disaster. This will be the director’s third war film after commercially and critically acclaimed Border (1997) and LOC Kargil (2003. The music of the film has been composed by Anu Malik and lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar.
The movie will hit the screens on September 7.
