AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh police have registered a case against three cameramen belonging to different channels for allegedly filming a video of a woman constable while she was changing her clothes inside the room in a school in the capital region.
The woman constable, who was on assembly bandobust duty, alleged that the cameramen had shot the video from the window of the room. Case has been registered against all the three cameramen under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under provisions of Nirbhaya Act based on the complaint lodged by the woman constable with her higher authorities.
Tenali deputy superintendent of police Srilakshmi, who has been made the investigating officer in the case, said that the cameramen entered the school room, where the woman constable changed the room, without taking permission from the authorities.
Police personnel from nearby districts were deployed around the assembly in view of the assembly siege call given by the opposition parties and the farmers against the three-capital proposal of the YSR Congress government.
"Many women police personnel were drawn for the assembly bandobust duty. They were given accommodation at Mandapdam ZPH School. This morning at around 11.30, cameramen of three channels went there and shot a video of the woman constable while she was changing her dress. They recorded the video through the window of that room,"Srilakshmi said.
Responding to the complaint, the Tulluru police station collected videos and photos that were shot by the three men.
Prem Kajal, another woman DSP said; "We never expected such behaviour from media persons against a woman, that too a woman police constable. This is a very indecent behaviour. We never expected such things from media. I feel ashamed. Media should create awareness in the public, but what they did is very shameful and highly condemnable," she added (with inputs from ANI)
